InZOI's latest patch, v0.9.6, fixes a handful of gameplay bugs while game director Kjun previews a broader rework to how characters behave in public spaces. The short version: your Zoies will stop wandering around bakeries for twenty minutes before remembering why they walked in.

The 90/10 behavior split

Kjun explained in a developer diary that the team identified a recurring frustration. When Zoies visited public locations like cafes or bakeries, they would spend most of their time chatting, scrolling their phones, or heading to the restroom instead of doing what they came for. The behavior was designed to make characters feel lifelike, but in practice it made their motivations unreadable.

The fix introduces a priority system: roughly 90% of a character's actions at a location will relate to their reason for visiting, and 10% will be random ambient behavior like brief conversations. A Zoi visiting a bakery will buy bread, sit down, eat it, and head home. Small spontaneous moments can still happen along the way, but they no longer dominate the visit.

This is a notable philosophical shift for InZOI's simulation layer. The game has leaned hard into emergent, autonomous behavior since its early access launch, and pulling that back even slightly shows Krafton is listening to feedback about legibility over pure simulation noise. For more on how this fits into InZOI's broader August 2026 update plans, including voice customization and mid-session mod tools, see our earlier coverage.

v0.9.6 bug fixes

The patch itself is a smaller maintenance release. Here is what changed:

  • Reduced the frequency of Zoies suddenly appearing directly in front of the player.
  • Fixed unnatural-looking pathfinding routes when moving to certain locations.
  • Fixed an issue where it was sometimes impossible to interact with a toddler.
  • Fixed the "Buy" command not working through the kiosk on Business Lots.
  • Fixed a crash triggered by deleting a mod project containing hair mods.
  • Optimized excessively heavy resources deployed in the Sample_Build mod.

The toddler interaction fix and pathfinding correction are the two most player-facing items here. Toddler interactions being blocked outright meant some family gameplay loops were breaking entirely, and the pathfinding visual glitch was one of those small things that chips away at immersion every time you notice it.

What this means for the early access road ahead

InZOI is still several months from its delayed PS5 release, and patches like v0.9.6 suggest Krafton is iterating quickly on the PC early access build. The 90/10 behavior system is not in this patch yet, but Kjun framing it as a near-term goal means it could land in a subsequent update this month. Players who found public lots confusing or lifeless should see a tangible improvement once it ships.
