InZOI director K Jun shared this week's official development video on July 11, covering a packed list of features currently in testing or active development. The highlights range from underwater free diving to a full vacation travel system, with vehicle modding and custom Zoi voices tucked in between.
Here is what was shown and what it means for the early access life sim.
Free diving and underwater swimming
The feature players have requested since launch is now in preliminary testing. K Jun showed controlled free diving in action, noting that movements and other details will be improved before it ships. Once live, players will be able to swim freely beneath the waters of Bliss Bay, Chahaya, and residential pools rather than being limited to surface-level swimming.
Vehicle modding opens up
A new vehicle modding system will let players replace their driving vessels with custom creations from the modding community. The preview showed exaggerated, physics-bending examples to demonstrate how far the system can stretch. Given that inZOI's recent 0.9.4 patch was focused on bug fixes, this is the first major modding expansion shown in a while.
Custom voices
Every Zoi currently shares a similar voice, but custom voice options are on the way. The preview showed what appears to be a selection interface with adjustable tones, from warmer voices to deeper or softer ones, controlled with a slider bar. This should give neighborhoods and households more audio variety.
Vacation and travel system
Several pieces shown in the video build toward a vacation system that is now actively in development:
- New public accommodations are coming to Dan, ranging from affordable to high-end price tiers
- A new restaurant is being added to Dan
- Custom basement floors can be added to existing properties (shown with a Chahaya example)
- A central market is being built on the vacation island where players can browse and buy items
- The vacation system itself will let you select which Zois travel with you and which accommodation you stay in
K Jun asked players what else they would like to see in the vacation system, suggesting it is still in a flexible design phase. Right now, visiting another city requires buying a new property and effectively moving. The vacation system would let you rent accommodations for a short stay and then return home.
Quality-of-life and animation polish
The video also covered smaller but welcome fixes:
- Farming interactions will auto-repeat when another plot is nearby, reducing repetitive clicks
- The interaction UI bug where prompts moved abnormally on objects has been fixed
- Zois deeply engaged in extended interactions will no longer be yanked away by group activity invitations from other Zois
- The relationship interface now has categories (home, love, business, family, friends) so you can filter contacts instead of scrolling one long list
- Children's reaction animations to a mother's pregnancy have been adjusted to feel more natural
- Yoga students at lower skill levels now show realistic imperfection instead of performing like masters
- A sitting anger animation plays when a Zoi loses at chess before they stand up
New creator content
Alongside the systems work, InZOI Studio showed new hairstyles, new undergarments, clipping fixes for clothing and hair, family portrait functionality, and new visual effects for build mode.
No specific patch date was given for these features, though the vacation system and free diving both appear to be targeting near-term updates based on their testing status. InZOI remains in early access on PC, with the PS5 version delayed to first half 2027.
