Paralives Patch 0.1.7 dropped on August 10, and it is one of the meatiest updates since the game entered early access. The patch addresses community feedback that surfaced within weeks of launch, touching baby visuals, relationships, food systems, lighting, and the Paramaker itself. Here is everything that changed and what it means for your saves.

Paramaker gets new patterns and filters

Five new patterns are now available in the Paramaker and can be applied to existing meshes, opening up fresh layering combinations for clothing.

The bigger addition is the filter system. Filters are organized into Fashion Style, Outfit Type, Material, and Custom Content categories. They work as intersections, so selecting multiple filters narrows results rather than expanding them. Once applied in the Clothing category, filters persist across subcategories (including Hairstyles) until you leave the Paramaker entirely. For Hairstyles and Makeup, only Feminine and Masculine filters currently apply.

Food storage, spoilage, and a working coffee machine

The food system received a ground-up rework. Parafolk can now store meals in the fridge, including burnt food, if you are feeling brave. Hovering over stored food shows remaining servings and time until it spoils; refrigerated meals last longer. You can pick a specific stored item via "See stored items..." or let your Parafolk grab leftovers automatically with "Eat leftovers." When food eventually goes bad, a new "Clean Fridge" interaction takes care of it.

Restaurants now stock vegetarian options. The vegetarian filter only works for food you have already purchased, but most plant-based meals include "veggie" in the name to help you spot them on the menu. One known quirk: vegetarian Parafolk still pick meals at random rather than preferring their own dietary options, so that fix is still incoming.

The coffee machine is finally functional. Three drinks are available: Coffee (2 Paradimes), Espresso (5 Paradimes), and Latte (5 Paradimes). Drinking any of them makes a Parafolk ignore the sleep need for two hours, which is useful for pushing through skill grinds or late-night builds.

Relationship depth and household management

This patch gives relationships noticeably more texture:

  • Invite to current lot lets you call a Parafolk to wherever you are, not just your home lot.
  • Hugging is no longer limited to romantic partners. Friends and family can share a hug.
  • Move in with friends is now possible once you reach relationship level 3. If that friend lives alone with children, the kids come along automatically.
  • Romantic interactions can be initiated by clicking directly on a partner after opening them through together cards. They remain accessible from both the partner click menu and the bed.
  • Bed slot assignment finally prevents Parafolk from sleeping in random beds. You assign specific slots per Parafolk.
  • Breakups now end conversations immediately, with both Parafolk reacting negatively, rather than awkwardly continuing to chat.

These additions bring Paralives closer to the kind of social nuance players expect from a life sim. The move-in logic for children, especially, fixes what was a confusing gap for anyone trying to build blended households.

Improved baby visuals and birth animations

Babies now have more realistic proportions, addressing community feedback that appeared shortly after early access launched. Newborns also spawn in the birthing parent's arms rather than materializing elsewhere. One visual hiccup remains: babies briefly appear upside down before settling into the correct hold position, though this is minor.

Lighting, street addresses, and Melino polish

The lighting system received a noticeable overhaul. Each light source now interacts more naturally with surfaces, improving the overall look of interior shots. Lots in Melino now display street addresses with named streets, and lot boundaries have been slightly expanded so floor paintings can connect to the road edge.

A new gameplay setting, "Display Townies on Town Map," lets you toggle NPC visibility on the map directly, removing the need for any workaround mods when you want to locate a specific Parafolk.

Hobbies and a Dorfromantik collaboration

Parafolk can now listen to or dance to music from a radio, with Dance skill level influencing their moves. The team also announced a collaboration with Dorfromantik, which is available as a Steam bundle alongside Paralives. Your Parafolk can play Dorfromantik on in-game computers.

Bug fixes and hotfixes

The base patch fixed a long list of issues: feeding toddlers in high chairs, game speed stability beyond 70 in-game days, the Advanced Transform Tool, "Do X for Y amount of time" goals, baby genetics pulling from parents correctly, dead Parafolk being removed from streets, and proper food orientation in Parafolk hands.

Two follow-up hotfixes have shipped since. Hotfix 0.1.7b fixed a softlock when using "Go Home" or "Edit Appearance" while a Parafolk was holding a baby. Hotfix 0.1.7c resolved Parafolk getting stuck on stairs after canceling movement while carrying a baby to a crib.

The team notes that early-access mods may break entirely with new patches and advises players to check for mod updates before reporting bugs. NPC wall-clipping after conversations is a known issue still being worked on.

Patch 0.1.7 is a strong signal that the Paralives team is reading community threads and acting on them quickly. The previous July 2nd patch tackled save file size and Steam Cloud; this one focuses on making daily gameplay feel more complete. For an early-access title, the cadence of meaningful updates is encouraging.
