Buried in yesterday's v0.1.8 patch notes was a detail that flew under the radar for many players: the Paralives team is officially working toward a free expansion pack launching before the end of 2026.
What the team said
The confirmation came directly from the official patch notes released on August 24th:
As mentioned within the public roadmap, we are now moving on to our first big Paralives update! This means patches will be spaced out a bit more than usual as we work our way towards the end of year free expansion which will include exciting new features and content.
The team also noted that hotfixes will still ship when critical issues come up, but the cadence of smaller updates is changing as development resources shift toward this larger release.
Where this fits in the roadmap
Paralives launched into Early Access in late May 2026 and currently sits in what the post-release roadmap calls the "Hotfixes" phase, which runs through September. After that, the timeline moves into "Free Updates," which is where this expansion falls.
No specifics about expansion content have been shared yet. The broader Early Access feature list still includes weather and seasons, a family tree system, social events, animals (dogs, cats, horses), swimming, boats and houseboats, pools, basements, and advanced roof and stair tools, but nothing has been tied to this particular release.
Community wishlist: farming and gardening
Players have already started speculating. Community member Mprin, who first flagged the patch note detail, has expressed hope for farming mechanics and an expanded gardening system. Right now, plants in Paralives function mostly as decorations and collectibles without deeper gameplay loops, so requests for functional agriculture have been common since launch.
Whether the expansion tackles something like farming or focuses on a different gap in Live Mode, Build Mode, or the Paramaker remains to be seen. The team maintains a public Notion board where players can track what is in progress and what is planned.
What this means for the pace of updates
The practical takeaway: expect fewer patches between now and the expansion launch. The team has been shipping updates regularly since Early Access began, but that rhythm is intentionally slowing so the expansion can come together. If you hit a bug, hotfixes will still arrive, but the next batch of new features is being saved for the bigger drop.
Three months into Early Access with a 91% positive Steam rating and a free expansion already on the horizon, the Paralives team appears to be following through on its promise of steady post-launch support without charging for major content during this phase.
