Maxis has pushed another round of fixes for The Sims 4 this August, addressing save system quirks, in-game store errors, and a missing lot tax that affected For Rent players. The update builds on the August 6 hotfix and continues the studio's summer-long push to improve the game's technical foundations.

Save system changes

Three adjustments target how saves and save reminders behave:

  • The default save reminder frequency is now set to "every 2 hours." Previously, reminders were disabled entirely unless players went into settings and turned them on manually.
  • Autosaving when exiting build mode or moving between lots is described as "more intuitive" (the exact behavior change is not detailed further).
  • The countdown to the next autosave or save reminder no longer resets when you travel between lots, so the timer keeps running regardless of world movement.

A specific overwrite bug also received a fix. If you loaded an autosave of a game you had previously saved manually, and then hit save again, the game would silently write over your last manual save slot rather than the one currently loaded. That should no longer happen.

Lot tax restored for rentals

Players using the For Rent expansion will notice that lot tax has reappeared in rental property bills. The charge had gone missing in a prior update, leaving landlords with unexpectedly low upkeep costs.

Store and UI fixes

Several interface problems are resolved:

  • Crashes caused by caching have been addressed.
  • The "Discoveries" menu tabs no longer shift position or show empty gaps.
  • Navigating from the Gallery to the store page of an unavailable kit or pack no longer triggers a "Something went wrong" error.
  • The countdown to the start of the workday, school classes, and extracurricular activities no longer freezes at "0 minutes."

This is the second targeted fix drop in under a week. If you experienced save corruption or store crashes after the summer's major technical overhaul, updating your game and testing your existing saves is the immediate next step.
