The Sims 4 is getting a small but welcome hotfix tomorrow, August 6, targeting three bugs that have been causing headaches for players on both PC and console.
The Sims Team shared the announcement today, confirming that the patch will roll out across all supported platforms. Here is what it fixes.
Three fixes in tomorrow's hotfix
The official statement lists the following changes:
- A memory crash that could occur when traveling between lots is resolved.
- A bug where manual saves could overwrite the wrong save slot is addressed.
- Stuck countdowns for school and careers are fixed.
That save slot bug in particular has been a nasty one. Overwriting the wrong slot means you could lose hours of progress without realizing it until later, so backing up your saves before updating is a good habit even when the team says the patch is low-risk.
The stuck school and career countdowns have been less destructive but persistently annoying, leaving Sims locked out of progression until players intervened with workarounds or cheats. Tomorrow that should just work again.
Mods and CC: minimal impact expected
The team says this hotfix should have minimal impact on mods and custom content. That said, their standard advice applies: back up your saves folder and keep your mods organized so you can troubleshoot quickly if something does break.
If you use a mod manager or keep a disabled-mods folder for testing, pulling script mods before patching and re-enabling them after launch is still the safest approach for any update, even a small one.
When to expect it
The patch is scheduled for August 6 with no specific time announced. Historically, Sims 4 patches tend to land in the morning (US Pacific time), so keep an eye on your launcher or console update queue.
This is a maintenance-style release with no new content, but considering the June 30 update already delivered quality-of-life changes like phone silencing, it is good to see the team following up with targeted stability fixes quickly.
