The Sims 4's August 6 hotfix is now live across all platforms, addressing three bugs that have been frustrating players since the last major update. The patch weighs in at around 516MB on Mac and is available to download right now.
What this hotfix fixes
The update targets three specific issues:
- A memory crash that could occur when traveling between lots
- A bug where manual saves could overwrite the wrong save slot
- Stuck countdowns for school and careers that would not progress
The travel crash and save slot problems were particularly disruptive, with the save bug carrying the risk of lost progress if players did not notice the wrong slot was being overwritten. The career countdown issue meant Sims could be stuck in limbo, unable to attend work or school on schedule.

How to get the update
The patch is available now on:
- PC: EA App, Origin, Steam, Epic Games
- Mac: Origin, Steam
- PlayStation: PS4 and PS5
- Xbox: Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S
If you have automatic updates enabled, your client should grab it without any action on your part. Otherwise, check for updates through your launcher or console menu. If the EA App is not cooperating, clearing your app cache can help.
Mod and CC compatibility
The Sims Team says they expect minimal impact on mods and custom content from this hotfix. That said, it is still good practice to launch the game with your Mods folder disabled first to confirm things are stable, then re-enable your content once you have verified nothing is off.
