Paralives pushed a meaty patch yesterday through Steam, and most of it targets the stuff that was quietly driving early access players up the wall. Save files, autosave reliability, cloud sync, and a long list of bug squashing all landed on July 2nd.
Save system overhaul
The headline change: new save files now average around 30MB instead of the previous 500MB. That is a massive reduction, and it should make the game far more practical on smaller SSDs or Steam Deck storage.
Alongside that, the autosave system now keeps the three most recent versions of each save. If something goes wrong mid-session or a mod corrupts your household, you can roll back to an earlier snapshot straight from the Load Game menu. Steam Cloud sync also arrived in this patch, so switching between machines no longer requires manual file transfers.
In-game appearance editing and new content
Players can now edit their Paras' appearances without leaving the world. Look into a mirror, visit the hospital, or stop by the pharmacy and you get access to nearly all Paramaker options (everything except labels, personalities, and lifestages). This was one of the most requested features since early access launched.
Other new additions include:
- Around 40 new picture frame artworks
- Custom images on mugs, rugs, skateboards, curtains, cushions, and flags
- Hand and bath towels (four new items for bathrooms)
- A toggle-all button in the mods menu
- A performance penalty for cancelling the Go To Work action, meaning Paras who skip out on their shift actually face consequences
- Zoomed-in Paramaker music now shifts to a softer arrangement for a more intimate feel
The lot revert option also showed up quietly: you can now reset any lot to its original look if your renovations went sideways.
Bug fixes and known issues
The patch addresses over a dozen specific bugs. Highlights include Paras no longer getting embarrassed when their partner is in the bathroom, fires on certain lots now being extinguishable, and renewable energy objects (wind turbines, solar panels, water recyclers) properly reducing bills. The "Go to Work" action no longer re-queues itself every 20 minutes after being cancelled, and Roberto finally shows up as the skill master he was always supposed to be in the town hall.
A few known issues remain on the team's radar. Some Paras still get jealous when kissing their own partner, custom swatches occasionally refuse to save, and canvases can vanish when starting or finishing a painting. The team also notes that external mods may break after this update, so if your mod menu looks empty, disabling third-party plugins is worth trying first.
The update is about 137MB on Mac and should download automatically through Steam if you have auto-updates enabled. For those following Paralives' early access progress, this patch marks a clear shift toward stability and quality-of-life polish rather than flashy new systems.
