Paralives Patch 0.1.7 arrives on August 10th with two features players have been asking about since the Early Access launch: a revamped indoor lighting system and a bed-claiming mechanic that puts you back in control of sleeping arrangements.

This will be the fifth update since Paralives entered Early Access in May, and it continues the pattern of targeted quality-of-life fixes the studio has been shipping roughly every two weeks.

Overhauled indoor lighting

The existing lighting in Paralives has been a common complaint. Ceiling lights, lamps, and sconces tended to cast harsh spotlights against walls rather than filling the room with a natural glow. Lamps were often either too dim or too bright, with little middle ground.

According to a teaser posted on the official Paralives X account on August 4th, the studio has reworked indoor lights so they "look more realistic, have better range, and don't light up the walls as brightly."

Before-and-after comparisons shown in the teaser illustrate the difference clearly. Lamp lighting is now toned down to a warmer, softer output, and ceiling lights illuminate more of a room instead of concentrating in a single spot. That second point matters for larger builds: you should no longer need to stack multiple ceiling lights just to avoid dark corners.

Bed claiming for Parafolk

The other headline addition is a bed-claiming system. Previously, Parafolk slept wherever was most convenient for them, ignoring any household arrangements you had in mind. With Patch 0.1.7, clicking on a bed opens a new assignment menu showing a square for each side of the mattress. You select a square and assign a household member to that side.

Once assigned, Parafolk will sleep in their designated bed on their designated side. It is a small feature, but one that solves a persistent frustration for anyone running multi-person households where bedrooms kept getting shuffled by the AI.

Baby appearance improvements too

The studio teased the week prior that the same patch will include visual quality improvements to babies, specifically their body and face appearance. The goal, per the developers, is to make them look more like actual babies and less like "tired, medieval-era adults."

When to expect it

Patch 0.1.7 releases August 10th, 2026, through Steam. If the cadence from the July 2nd patch is any indication, expect the full patch notes to drop alongside the update itself.
