Active careers
Get to Work introduces active careers to The Sims 4 for the first time, letting you follow your Sims to work and control them on the job. The Doctor career places Sims in a hospital where they treat patients, deliver babies, and perform emergency surgery. The Detective career sends Sims to crime scenes to gather clues and interrogate suspects. The Scientist career has Sims building inventions in a research lab, including a wormhole generator that opens a path to the alien world Sixam.
Each career comes with its own fully playable venue, so the workday unfolds in real time rather than behind a rabbit hole.
Retail businesses
The pack also lets Sims open and run their own retail store. You can set up a bakery, clothing boutique, art gallery, bookstore, or almost any other type of shop stocked with items from Build Mode. As the owner, you choose what to sell, hire and manage employees, and interact with customers to close sales. Magnolia Promenade, a small neighborhood included with the pack, provides four lots intended for retail. Three come pre-built as shops and one is left empty for you to build on.
Aliens and Sixam
Aliens return as a playable occult type in Get to Work. They come in several skin tones, glow when feeling strong emotions, and have special social interactions like analyzing personalities, erasing memories, and disguising themselves as regular Sims. Their home world, Sixam, is a hidden lot filled with radiant plants, floating rocks, and colorful terrain. Reaching it requires the Scientist career's wormhole generator, available at level 10.
New skills and objects
Two new skills come with the pack. Photography lets Sims capture and sell photos, while Baking opens up recipes for decorated treats that can also be sold in a retail store. On the cosmetic side, Get to Work adds 210 Create a Sim items and 292 Build Mode objects.
