Vampire life state
The Vampires game pack introduces vampires as a playable life state in The Sims 4. Vampire Sims replace the standard hunger need with a thirst for plasma, which can be satisfied by drinking from other Sims, consuming plasma packs, or growing and eating plasma fruit. Sunlight is dangerous and prolonged exposure can kill a vampire, so the pack's world is built around longer nights.
In Create a Sim, vampires get their own customization tools including fangs, glowing eyes, pale skin tones, and gothic clothing. Each vampire also has a Dark Form, a separate appearance they shift into when enraged or when frightening other Sims.
Powers, weaknesses, and ranks
Vampires progress through five ranks: Fledgling, Minor Vampire, Prime Vampire, Master Vampire, and Grand Master Vampire. Ranking up earns power points that can be spent on 25 different powers, including bat transformation, super speed, mind control, and the ability to conjure spiritual energy. Vampires can also advance their rank by winning duels against other vampires.
To keep unlocking new powers, vampires must accept weaknesses at each new rank. These range from uncontrollable hissing to guilt after feeding and increased vulnerability to sunlight. Some powers and weaknesses conflict with each other, which forces players to plan their vampire's build carefully.
Two new skills support the vampire fantasy. Vampire Lore teaches Sims about vampirism, lets them brew plasma packs, and can be used to create or cure vampires. The Pipe Organ skill works like the piano skill but uses the pack's pipe organ instrument.
Forgotten Hollow
The pack's world, Forgotten Hollow, is a small gothic neighborhood with five residential lots and the Straud Mansion. The streets are permanently misty, lined with looming dead trees and centuries-old architecture. A central plaza features a statue of Vladislaus Straud, the ancient vampire who resides in the mansion. Players can explore the area to discover secrets, collect ingredients for recipes, and construct their own vampire lairs.
Build and Create a Sim content
The pack includes 72 Create a Sim items and 144 Build Mode items. The build catalog features gothic decor such as coffins, gargoyles, chandeliers, and ornate furniture suited to constructing a vampire mansion.
