What Spa Day adds
Spa Day is the second game pack released for The Sims 4, originally launched on July 14, 2015. It centers on wellness and pampering, giving Sims access to spa venues where they can enjoy stone massages, reflexology, mud baths, sauna sessions, and facial masks. The pack introduces the Wellness skill, a dedicated spa lot type, and a collection of spa-themed clothing and build mode objects.
On September 7, 2021, a free refresh update expanded the pack with a nail customization system, the High Maintenance trait, two new aspirations, and portable spa furniture.
Wellness skill and spa activities
The Wellness skill is the main gameplay addition in Spa Day. Sims build it by practicing yoga and meditation, either solo or in group sessions led by a yoga instructor. As the skill progresses, Sims gain access to more yoga poses and deeper meditation techniques. At higher levels, they can levitate and teleport.
Sims can visit the Perfect Balance Spa or build their own spa venue to access the full range of treatments. The 2021 refresh expanded the Wellness skill to children, who can now participate in yoga alongside adults. Sims with level 6 Wellness can offer nail services and other spa treatments to other Sims for payment and promote their services on Simstagram to attract clients.
Nail system and the Spa Day refresh
The September 2021 refresh introduced a nail customization system with manicures and pedicures available at spa chairs. Players can choose from coffin, round, stiletto, almond, short, and curated nail shapes in glossy and matte finishes. Nails applied through spa chairs degrade after roughly one in-game day, while nails selected in Create-a-Sim are permanent.
The refresh also added the High Maintenance trait for Sims who struggle with trivial frustrations but find relief through spa visits. Two aspirations arrived with the update: Zen Guru and Self-Care Specialist. The Self-Care Specialist aspiration grants the Self-Care Expertise reward trait, which increases income from all spa services. Portable versions of the spa chair and massage table were also added, letting Sims carry them in their inventory and set up anywhere.
Create-a-Sim and build mode content
Spa Day includes 50 Create-a-Sim items with casual loungewear, hairstyles, and accessories. The build mode catalog adds 125 objects for creating spa environments at home or on dedicated lots. Players who do not own Spa Day still receive basic nail shape and color options in Create-a-Sim, though the pack provides a wider selection of designs.
