Granite Falls vacation world
Outdoor Retreat was the first game pack released for The Sims 4, arriving on January 13, 2015. It adds Granite Falls, a woodland destination Sims can only visit while on vacation. The world has two neighborhoods: one containing a national park with trails and wildlife, and another with five rentable lots including four cabins and a campground. Vacations can last up to seven Sim days and can be extended through a Sim's phone.
At camp, Sims roast marshmallows, cook hot dogs over a fire pit, play horseshoes, stargaze, and share fireside stories of adventure and fright. Venture deeper into the forest and Sims may encounter bears or search for a rumored hermit living in the woods.
Herbalism skill and collectibles
The pack introduces the Herbalism skill, which lets Sims identify wild plants as edible or poisonous and brew potions from herbs and insects found around Granite Falls. There are ten new herbs and several new insect species to collect. Potions include insect repellent and salves that calm emotions like anger or soothe tense Sims. The skill also produces fertilizer useful for gardening and weed repellent.
New species of fish and insects can be caught throughout Granite Falls and used in herbalism recipes or added to a Sim's collection.
Create a Sim and build mode content
Outdoor Retreat includes 74 Create a Sim items such as hiking outfits and hairstyles, along with 85 build mode objects. Camping supplies including tents, portable beds, and outdoor furniture can be purchased at the ranger's station in the national park or placed directly through build mode.
