Small pets and care
My First Pet Stuff introduces four types of small animals to The Sims 4: hamsters, rats, pygmy hedgehogs, and the miniature bubalus. Each lives in a habitat enclosure that Sims can place in their homes. Sims need to feed and clean their small pets regularly to build a relationship with them. Well-treated animals can eventually share secrets with their owners, while neglected pets can infect Sims with a fatal disease that spreads to other household members.
Build and buy mode items
The pack includes 35 build and buy mode items. On the furniture side, there are pet-themed sofas, a corner sofa, children's desks and chairs, a bookcase, a children's activity table, and aquarium-topped coffee tables. Decorative objects range from a height chart and hamster-themed wall decals to paw-print rugs, animal-shaped lamps, and photo frames. When paired with the Cats & Dogs expansion, players also get pet beds for cats and dogs, a litter box, food bowls, a pet toy box, a cat condo, and dog doors.
Create a Sim content
My First Pet Stuff adds 27 create a Sim items. For human Sims, there are pet-themed t-shirts and onesies available for toddlers, children, and adults, along with several hairstyles. No baby or infant items are included. With Cats & Dogs installed, the pack also adds a large selection of pet clothing, including dresses, jackets, hats, costumes like a banana outfit for dogs and a bee costume for cats, and onesies for both species.
Compatibility and requirements
My First Pet Stuff was released on March 13, 2018 for PC and Mac, and on March 31, 2020 for consoles. It requires The Sims 4 base game and all game updates. A significant portion of the pack's content, including all pet clothing for cats and dogs plus several buy mode objects like pet beds and litter boxes, requires The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs expansion pack to use. The small pet habitats, furniture, decorations, and human clothing work with the base game alone.
