What the pack adds
Laundry Day Stuff introduces functional laundry gameplay to The Sims 4. Sims generate dirty clothes when they change outfits, and players can wash and dry them using washing machines, dryers, washtubs, and clotheslines. The pack includes 49 build mode objects and 20 create-a-sim items, all following a rustic, country-inspired theme. Its theme, content, icon, and title were shaped by community votes, making it one of the first stuff packs developed with direct player input.
How the laundry system works
The laundry system only activates when laundry objects are placed on a lot. Neat Sims place dirty clothes in hampers while slob Sims drop them on the floor. Each hamper holds 20 outfit changes before overflowing.
Clothing tracks three attributes: cleanliness (from pristine to filthy), dryness (from warm to soaked), and scent (fragrant or foul). Each state triggers corresponding moodlets. Wearing pristine clothes gives a happy boost, while filthy or soaked clothing makes Sims uncomfortable. Washing machines and washtubs handle cleaning, while dryers and clotheslines take care of drying. Washtubs also build the fitness skill, and clotheslines take up to 12 hours to finish. Dryers need their lint traps cleaned periodically to prevent fires.
Upgrades and cross-pack features
Several upgrades are available through the handiness skill. These include presoak for better cleaning results at handiness level 5, speed cycle for shorter wash times at level 7, whisper quiet mode at level 6, and a tungsten drum at level 8 that prevents breakdowns. Dryers can receive a lint-less upgrade at handiness level 5 to eliminate fire risk. The laundry additive tray upgrade lets players scent clothes using flowers or food items.
The system also connects with other packs. With Parenthood installed, doing laundry builds responsibility character values for children and teens. Butlers and maids from Vintage Glamour Stuff autonomously handle laundry and lint traps, and pets from Cats and Dogs interact with the appliances.
Décor and create-a-sim items
The 49 build mode objects follow a country aesthetic, including wooden tables, wicker furniture, decorative rugs, flower baskets, and succulents. The 20 CAS items feature floral patterns, everyday denim, and free-flowing tops and bottoms in natural cotton fibers for a rustic look.
