Horses, mini goats, and mini sheep

Horse Ranch puts horses at the center of gameplay. Horses join your household as family members and can be customized in Create a Sim with options for breed, head shape, mane, tail, coat length, and body mass. You can buy, rescue, or breed them on your ranch. Foals born on the ranch inherit traits from both parents and can develop unique characteristics as they learn from family and trainers.

Horses develop four skills: Temperament, Agility, Jumping, and Endurance. Agility is practiced on horse barrels and jumping on horse jumps. Sims build the Riding skill alongside their horses, and skilled pairs can compete at the Equestrian Center to earn Simoleons, wall plaques, and display signs. Competitions build toward the Ultimate Horse Championship.

The pack also introduces mini goats and mini sheep. Goats can be milked and sheep can be sheared, both providing a source of ranch income.

Ranch management and nectar making

Daily ranch work involves mucking horse beds, harvesting Prairie Grass for animal feed, and collecting horse manure to use as fertilizer. When the workload builds up, you can hire a ranch hand to help out.

Nectar making is the pack's crafting system. Sims stomp fruit, potatoes, or even trash to produce bottled nectar with various effects. Bottles can be aged in nectar racks to increase their value before selling. You can also host Ranch Gatherings with cookouts and dancing, invite neighbors for Ranch Animal Days, or head into downtown New Appaloosa to visit the bar, dance hall, or equestrian park.

Chestnut Ridge

Chestnut Ridge is a world inspired by the wide open skies of the American West. It has four neighborhoods: Riders' Glen for ranching, New Appaloosa as the downtown social hub, Galloping Gulch as a national park with scenic trails and rock formations, and the explorable Dreadhorse Caverns. The pack includes 148 Create a Sim items for both Sims and horses and 214 build and buy objects including barn structures, fencing, and ranch-themed furnishings. Ranch style options range from a traditional cabin to a big red barn.
