Life in Henford-on-Bagley
Cottage Living introduces Henford-on-Bagley, a rural world described as a cozy place where everyone knows everyone. The village centers around community gathering spots like The Gnome's Arms pub, a local market, and the Finchwick Fair. Sims can learn about the town's history, run errands for neighbors to earn unique gifts, or pack a picnic basket and enjoy the countryside.
Farm animals and woodland creatures
The pack adds cows, chickens, and llamas as interactive farm animals. Cows produce flavored milk, chickens lay eggs in their coops, and llamas can be sheared for wool. Beyond livestock, Sims can befriend wild rabbits, foxes, and birds roaming the world. Building relationships with woodland creatures grants gameplay bonuses, such as wild animals helping tend harvestables or delivering gifts. Foxes, on the other hand, may try to steal eggs from the chicken coop.
Gardening, cooking, and the Finchwick Fair
Cottage Living puts fresh ingredients at the center of meal preparation. Lot challenges require Sims to source fresh produce for each meal, whether by growing their own crops, visiting the village market, or foraging in the wild. Sims can also grow oversized crops and enter them into competitions at the Finchwick Fair, where they can showcase livestock as well. The garden-to-table cooking system ties directly into the new recipes included with the pack.
Create a Sim and Build Mode
The expansion adds 132 Create a Sim items and 170 Build Mode items, covering countryside clothing, hairstyles, cottage furniture, decor, and farm structures like chicken coops and animal sheds. A new cross-stitching skill lets Sims create designs that can be displayed on walls or gifted to other Sims.
Cottage Living was released on July 22, 2021, and requires The Sims 4 base game. It is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
