What the pack includes
Cool Kitchen Stuff is the third stuff pack released for The Sims 4, launched on August 11, 2015. It adds 23 build and buy items and 29 Create a Sim items. The build and buy catalog focuses on modern kitchen pieces, including stainless steel appliances, frosted glass cabinet doors, and gourmet furnishings that give Sim kitchens a sleeker, more contemporary look. On the CAS side the pack includes new hairstyles and casual clothing such as sweaters.
The ice cream maker
The headline feature is the ice cream maker, which lets Sims prepare gelato, ice cream, and soft serve. The machine offers 30 flavor options, 10 garnish choices, and 8 topping varieties. Toppings include banana slices, whipped cream, sprinkles, and chocolate sauce. A Sim's Cooking skill determines how many recipes they can access, so leveling up the skill opens more combinations.
Some ice cream flavors come with unusual side effects. Certain recipes can turn a Sim into a PlantSim, give them dragon breath, cause chills, or make it easier for them to gain or lose weight. Ice cream left out on the counter lasts about ten hours before it spoils, so Sims have time to share a platter with the household.
Kitchen design
Beyond the ice cream maker, the pack's build and buy selection fills a gap in the base game's kitchen options. The new fridge and stove have been noted as some of the more attractive appliances available in The Sims 4, and the cabinets and decorative items let players put together a more polished kitchen without needing a larger expansion. For players who spend time building family homes, the kitchen objects give rooms a finished, modern feel.
