Apartment living in San Myshuno

City Living is an expansion pack for The Sims 4, released in November 2016. It introduces San Myshuno, a densely populated world inspired by cities like Tokyo, San Francisco, and New York City. The world is divided into four neighborhoods: the Arts Quarter, Fashion District, Spice Market, and Uptown, each with cultural touches drawn from Indian, Chinese, Japanese, and Moroccan traditions.

San Myshuno has 21 rentable apartments and three penthouses. Apartments come with their own lot traits, a landlord who handles repairs, and everyday issues like cockroaches, leaky pipes, and electrical problems. Sims can hand out apartment keys to friends and family, while neighbors knock on doors, chat in hallways, or file noise complaints.

Careers, festivals, and the singing skill

Three semi-active careers come with the pack, each splitting into two branches: Politician (Politician or Charity Organizer), Critic (Food Critic or Arts Critic), and Social Media (Internet Personality or Public Relations). Five city festivals rotate on a two-week schedule across the neighborhoods: Geekcon, the Humor and Hijinks Festival, the Romance Festival, the Spice Festival, and the Flea Market. Each brings competitions, street performers, and chances to meet other Sims. A recent update added per-pack festival notification toggles, giving players control over which festival alerts show up.

City Living also introduces the singing skill. Sims build it through karaoke machines, solo practice, and shower singing, and at higher levels they can write and license songs for royalty income. The pack's City Native aspiration ties everything together, challenging Sims to explore each neighborhood, attend all five festivals, and save up for a penthouse.

Create a Sim and build content

The expansion adds city-themed fashion in Create a Sim and hundreds of new build and buy objects for decorating apartments and lots. City Living also introduced lot traits to the game, adding 24 traits that can be applied to any lot in any world.
