What store sets included
Store sets were themed collections sold through The Sims 3 Store, EA's online marketplace hosted on TheSims3.com. Each set bundled items for Build mode, Buy mode, or Create a Sim around a shared visual theme. The store organized its collections into categories such as Modern Luxury, Travel and World Style, Activities, Fantasy, Fun, Classics, and Holidays and Gifts. Prices ranged from free sets up to around 72 USD, and players made purchases using SimPoints, a virtual currency bought with real money in bundles of different sizes.
Premium content and gameplay objects
Certain store sets included premium content, a category of items that went beyond cosmetics to add gameplay interactions, moodlets, and animations. EA introduced the first premium content item in 2011 with the Sharper Sim Foot Massage Chair. Later releases added functional objects such as pizza ovens, ice cream machines, magical cauldrons that let Sims brew potions, and dragons with special abilities. Premium content items were typically available only through a set or world purchase rather than as standalone buys.
The store marketplace
The Sims 3 Store operated alongside the Exchange on TheSims3.com and sold sets, individual items, pre-built venue lots, and playable worlds. The store featured daily deals and a rotating "Make Me an Offer" section that presented personalized discounts on items a player did not already own. New sets and items were added on a regular schedule throughout the game's active development period. Production of new store content wound down following the release of Into the Future, the final expansion pack, in late 2013. The store itself remained accessible after new releases ended, allowing players to continue browsing and purchasing existing sets.
