Three destinations to explore

Reisefeber adds three vacation worlds to The Sims 3: Shang Simla in China, Al Simhara in Egypt, and Champs Les Sims in France. Each destination has its own landmarks, local Sims, shops, and adventure chains. Sims travel on temporary visits controlled by a visa system that tracks points earned through completed adventures and other activities. Those visa points accumulate over time and can extend a Sim's allowed stay from the initial three days up to eighteen days per trip.

Tomb exploration and adventures

The central gameplay addition is tomb exploration. Each destination world contains underground tombs filled with traps, puzzles, hidden rooms, and ancient relics. Sims with the Handy skill can disarm traps, and completing adventure chains earns ancient coins and collectible rewards. The expansion also introduced the mummy as a new life state, encountered deep inside Egyptian tombs.

New skills and traits

Three skills arrive with Reisefeber: martial arts in Shang Simla, nectar making in Champs Les Sims, and photography across all destinations. Snake charming also appears as a hidden skill that can remove mummy curses. Three new traits round out the expansion: Adventurous, Disciplined, and Photographer's Eye. The pack adds eight lifetime wishes tied to the new skills and eleven lifetime rewards purchasable with lifetime happiness points.

Build mode and objects

Reisefeber introduced basement construction to The Sims 3, letting players dig multiple underground levels beneath their lots. The expansion also includes new furniture, clothing, flooring, wall coverings, and landscaping items inspired by the three destination cultures. Collected relics and artifacts from tomb exploration can be brought home and displayed as decoration.
