Isla Paradiso and island exploration
Island Paradise introduces Isla Paradiso, a Caribbean-themed archipelago made up of two main islands and many smaller ones scattered across open water. Sims travel between islands by rowboat, paddleboat, sailboat, or speedboat. Eight uncharted islands surround the world and can be discovered through gameplay objectives and finding message bottles washed ashore. Discovered islands can be turned into private residential lots or developed into resorts.
Houseboats and water living
Sims can build and live on houseboats that dock at any open port in Isla Paradiso. Houseboats are fully customizable and come in sizes up to 20×15. They can be moved across the water, letting a household relocate to a different view whenever they want. The world also ships with several pre-built houseboats ready to move into.
Scuba diving and mermaids
The pack adds the scuba diving skill, which lets Sims snorkel and dive at designated spots around the world. Underwater, Sims can explore caves, collect sunken treasure and pearls, and run into sharks and the Kraken. Mermaids are the life state introduced in this expansion. Mermaid Sims can breathe underwater and use a hydration motive in place of hygiene.
Resorts and the lifeguard career
Sims can purchase and run their own resorts, managing staff, setting room prices, and choosing amenities like waterslides and buffet tables. Resort income depends on guest satisfaction and reviews. Isla Paradiso includes three pre-built resorts to get started with. The expansion also features the lifeguard career, where Sims rescue swimmers and perform CPR along the island shorelines.
