Setting and story

Lunar Lakes takes place on a distant planet where Sims arrived generations ago aboard a spacecraft called the Perigee. After the ship became disabled, the survivors used homeworld technology and newly discovered crystal tech to establish a colony at the edge of space. Over time they built roads, developed agriculture, and formed a thriving settlement around the vessel's remains.

The landscape is unlike any other world in The Sims 3. Geometric lakes, alien terrain, mushroom-shaped trees, and futuristic architecture define the scenery. The world contains 86 lots spread across four distinct regions: Downtown, Lowlands, Inside craters, and Peacekeeper Pass.

Gameplay and locations

The crashed Perigee spaceship doubles as the local science lab, and Sims can join the science career there. Five bio-dome parks scattered across the colony contain plant life and environments that recall worlds like Sunset Valley, Appaloosa Plains, and Hidden Springs. The Crystal Mine lets Sims explore underground and discover rare rocks and gems, while the Community Garden provides a place to tend vegetables and help the colony prosper.

Over twenty pre-made families populate the world, including recognizable names like Landgraab Clones, Beaker, Alto, and Wolff-Cruz. Bella Goth also appears as a deceased Sim with a tombstone in the local cemetery.

Exclusive content

Lunar Lakes includes several items not available in other worlds. The Tree of Prosperity is a premium object shaped like a floating crystal formation that changes throughout the day. Sims can imbue four types of fruit from the tree: Fruit of Harvest, Fruit of Soul, Fruit of Mind, and Fruit of Body. Each fruit helps Sims build skills faster when consumed.

The world also ships with four exclusive outfits, including the Absolute Magnitude Outfit and Gravity Boots, along with futuristic build and buy mode objects such as the Hexagonal Illumination Device and the Crystal Cradling Streetlight.
