Desert setting with two sides
Lucky Palms is the fifth world released for The Sims 3 Store. It launched on June 28, 2012, as a digital download. The desert landscape draws inspiration from Palm Springs and Las Vegas, mixing manicured gardens and modern estates with arid terrain. A highway splits the world into two distinct areas. One side is a resort town on the edge of a blue lake, filled with mid-century modern architecture, palm trees, and wind turbines. The other side, Lakeside Drive, sits around dried-up lake beds with a smaller collection of homes and repurposed commercial buildings including a gas station and motel.
The world contains 96 lots in total, covering residential homes, community venues such as the Lucky Cactus Bistro and Botanical Garden, and over 20 empty lots for player building. Around 50 Sims live in Lucky Palms across pre-made families including the King, Shaw, Hendrix, Price, and Sparks households, with storylines that touch on professional rivalries, romance, and friendships.
The Wishing Well and world-specific content
The Wishing Well is the signature feature of Lucky Palms. Sims can wish for love, children, happiness, power, or wealth, though the pixies inhabiting the well are unpredictable and may grant or deny each request. Sims can also steal coins from the well or cast a fishing line into it. When the Wishing Well is placed near the Tree of Prosperity, pixies and fireflies appear at night.
Lucky Palms includes desert-themed build and buy objects such as cacti, Joshua trees, yucca plants, bistro furniture, and contemporary décor items. It was the first Sims 3 Store world to introduce new tree models.
Standard and Gold editions
Lucky Palms was available in a Standard and a Gold edition. The Standard edition includes the world, its households, and the Wishing Well. The Gold edition adds the Lucky Simoleon Casino at 150 Casino Boulevard along with a blackjack table and a slot machine. The Lucky Coin Stakes slot machine offers a jackpot of 7,500 Simoleons.
