Interactive professions
Drømmejobben changes how careers work in The Sims 3 by introducing professions that let players directly control their Sims while on the job. Instead of disappearing into a building for a shift, Sims with these careers receive specific tasks to complete around town. The expansion includes six active professions: firefighter, ghost hunter, private investigator, stylist, architect, and doctor. Firefighters respond to emergencies and can eventually earn a personal fire engine. Architects redesign homes to meet client budgets and preferences. Ghost hunters track down spirits for profit, while private investigators work through multi-step cases. Stylists perform makeovers, and doctors take on side jobs like vaccinations alongside their regular duties.
Sims can also register as self-employed at City Hall in any item-producing skill, including painting, fishing, gardening, writing, inventing, and sculpting. Self-employed Sims advance by earning Simoleons from selling what they create.
New skills and the SimBot
Two major skills arrive with this pack. Inventing lets Sims build gadgets and objects from scrap found at the junkyard, and a Sim with a high enough inventing skill can construct a SimBot, a new robotic life state. Sculpting allows Sims to produce statues and decorative pieces from different materials. A hidden tattoo art skill is also included, letting Sims operate tattoo equipment for income.
Twinbrook
The expansion ships with Twinbrook, a bayou-themed world with a design inspired by French swamp towns. The neighborhood is built around twin rivers and emphasizes the new professions and skills introduced in the pack. At the time of release, Twinbrook was one of the largest worlds available for The Sims 3.
Everyday additions
A laundry system adds hampers, washing machines, and dryers to daily life, rewarding Sims who keep up with their clothes. The consignment shop gives players a place to sell crafted or collected items at a markup. Other additions include property ownership for community lots, the outdoor Gnubb sport, and bake sale tables for children. New traits such as eco-friendly, dramatic, and born salesperson round out the pack, along with expanded lifetime wishes and meteor strikes as a new cause of death.
