What Aurora Skies adds
Aurora Skies is the eighth world released through The Sims 3 Store, available since February 21, 2013. The world draws on Icelandic scenery and centers on a coastal town surrounded by unspoiled nature. Players can explore 84 lots spread across downtown, extended downtown, and hillside districts, with lot sizes ranging from 20Γ20 to 64Γ64.
The world ships with over a dozen pre-made households, each with written backstories. Families include the Adamsson household, where Ericka races to become mayor while her partner Simon runs a business empire, and the Elliot household, whose members lead double lives as jewelry and art thieves.
Gameplay and premium content
The standard edition includes the Hot Air Balloon Classic, a gameplay object that lets Sims take to the sky for sightseeing and relationship interactions against the world's multi-colored night sky. The landscape features a geothermal lake fed by waterfalls, and community lots cover beaches, parks, a gym, a library, a museum, a cemetery, fishing spots, a pool, and a stadium.
A Gold Edition bundles the world with the Tiny Prodigies Early Learning Center, a venue that adds a playpen and a toddler walker as gameplay objects alongside additional items for toddler-focused play.
World layout and lots
Aurora Skies contains 84 lots divided across three areas. The downtown district hosts commercial and residential zones, an extended downtown area provides additional space, and a hilly area offers scenic residential and community locations. Lot sizes range from compact 20Γ20 plots to large 64Γ64 parcels, with 23 odd-sized lots filling in between. The eco-friendly setting and spacious land make it one of the more open worlds available through the Store.
